Is Kia Sorento a real competitor of Toyota Fortuner?




KIA Lucky Motors has launched a crossover SUV with branding "Sorento". The Sorento has already created a great deal of buzz due to its launch event earlier this week. KIA invited many You-tubers and Bloggers from all over Pakistan. These You-tubers and Bloggers visited the KIA manufacturing facility and test drive the car themselves. All of them gave different reviews about its features and Performance in their videos and blogs.

But this gave birth to one logical question whether it is a real competitor of Toyota Fortuner or Not?

So, I decided to do a head-on-head comparison of features of both of these crossover SUV s.

Seating Capacity:

Both Fortuner and Sorento have 7 seating capacity.

Generation:

KIA Sorento has launched 3rd generation instead of 4th generation which is available all over the world, while Toyota Fortuner is 2nd generation not only in Pakistan but all over the World.

Variants:

KIA Sorento has three variants

  • ·         2.4L All Wheel Drive (AWD)
  • ·         3.5L Front Wheel Drive (FWD

While Toyota Fortuner has two Variants in Pakistan

  • ·         Toyota Fortuner 2.8 (Diesel)

Price Range:

Price range of KIA Sorento will be between Rs. 6.999 million to Rs. 8.399 million.

While price range of Toyota Fortuner is between Rs. 7.699 million to Rs. 9.399 million.

Originating Country:

KIA is a Korean based company while Toyota is a Japanese company which have captured main share of Pakistan Auto industry.

Exterior:

If we sound the exterior of KIA Sorento than it has many latest features which makes its very competitive than Toyota Fortuner. It exterior includes following features

Final Thoughts

If we look at both have some unique features and some different features. Toyota Fortuner has its own bents and curves on outside which gives it some aggressive look but Sorento also has unique cool and sophisticated look. As for price Sorento will give a good challenge to Fortuner for being less costly. Toyota Fortuner has more off-road grip as compared to Sorento but for urban buyers Sorento is a better performer.
